An Artist in Motion

I decided as we didnt have much time to do my couture draping on a project i had already started, i based this project on the geisha culture of japan. i looked very closely at the book memoirs of a geisha, as it gives a detailed view of a geisha in the 1930's.

he is my mood of my inspirations and feel of the project, it was just to give people a feel and a visual look of my project, i selected specific pictures to represent my theme and also objects.
after doing my mood bored i illusrated a design and started drapping working the fabrics into shapes that represent the geisha kimono.

this is my illustrated design, i wanted the skirt to fall with a spilt right up the centre of the drapped gathered skirt, completing the back with a drapped cowel, that represents how the back of the kimono falls, but exaggerated. it also has a ket band around the middle from the centre of a kimono. my deign is a reflection of the kimono working into a contemory western look.
